SaskTel TelCare continues to be a time-honoured tradition

Today, SaskTel is proud to announce nearly $209,000 in TelCare donations for 2021. Despite the challenges faced by many this past year, it is clear the tradition of giving remains alive and well as the company welcomes the new year.

“Saskatchewan people are known for their generosity, and year over year the employees at SaskTel have been an outstanding example of this,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “It’s wonderful to see so many people continue to support non-profit organizations in their own communities.”

Employee driven, the SaskTel TelCare fund collects donations annually through a voluntary payroll deduction. This year, the program raised nearly $140,000 that when combined with SaskTel’s commitment to match 50 per cent of each donation, has allowed it to donate a total of nearly $209,000 to 47 charitable and non-profit organizations operating across Saskatchewan.

“SaskTel employees really are the driving force behind TelCare” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “What makes me proud to work for a company like SaskTel is that the corporation and its employees have always embraced giving back to the communities where we live and work and I’m glad to say the same for 2021.”

This past year there were 648 employees enrolled in support of the fund. Their average donation of $200 per year, plus a matching donation of $100 per member courtesy of SaskTel, has allowed each of the nine TelCare districts to contribute much more than they may have otherwise been capable of on their own.

Four schools in Swift Current received TelCare support for their breakfast programs, and Care & Share Saskatoon’s TelCare donation will help meet the needs of children at 17 community schools. Teddy Bears Anonymous will be able to gift 1,150 teddy bears to sick children in Saskatchewan Hospitals, EMS, and Air Medevac Services thanks to TelCare.
