Spring has sprung in Saskatchewan, and with it comes longer days, warmer weather, and Saskatchewan Roughrider football at Mosaic Stadium. Today, SaskTel announced it is putting the final touches on its 5G network at Mosaic Stadium and expects the network to be fully operational in-time for the kick-off of the 2023 football season.
"Mosaic Stadium is home to one of most revered franchises in all of Canadian sport," said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. "This season, SaskTel customers can enjoy our cutting-edge 5G wireless network and share the truly unique experience of catching a Rider game, live and in-person at Mosaic Stadium."
Delivering hyper-fast data speeds, SaskTel's 5G network will allow SaskTel customers to connect faster than before without ever leaving their seat. Plus, as SaskTel's 5G network evolves, it will enable new use cases for emerging wireless technologies that will enhance the in-person fan experience.
"There's no better place to experience a Rider game than in the stands, and having SaskTel's 5G network cover Mosaic Stadium is going to make our game day experience even better," said Saskatchewan Roughrider President and CEO Craig Reynolds. "We are more connected than ever before to our friends, family and to our football team, and we are thankful for our partners at SaskTel for providing Rider Nation with its fast, reliable service while they cheer on their Green and White."
The upgrades at Mosaic Stadium also include extended 5G coverage for Confederation Park as well as significant capacity and technology enhancements for SaskTel's selectWI-FI and 4G LTE wireless networks. These network upgrades will ensure SaskTel customers can stay connected while enjoying a Roughrider home game or other events held at Mosaic Stadium.
"Providing an exceptional guest experience is at the heart of what we do", said Tim Reid, CEO and President of REAL, "and this upgrade allows to deliver on that promise for Rider games and for all visitors to Mosaic Stadium."
SaskTel's deployment of 5G at Mosaic Stadium and across Saskatchewan is part of its commitment to invest more than $1.6 billion of capital across the province over the next five years. These investments will help Saskatchewan accelerate its transition to becoming a smart province and ensure it remains one of the most well-connected regions in the country.
In order to connect to SaskTel 5G, SaskTel customers need to be within a 5G coverage area, have a 5G capable device that is certified for use on the SaskTel 5G network, and subscribe to a 5G compatible wireless plan.
